What we're building

Chroma Engine is a purpose-built media engine written in Rust for high-performance playback, remuxing, segmentation, and transcoding. Instead of copying the shape of older tools, it treats media processing as explicit typed pipelines: probe, select, copy, decode, encode, mux, and deliver. What makes Chroma Engine different is its bias toward minimal, inspectable execution paths. Compatible streams stay on zero-decode packet-copy routes, heavier transcode paths are planned as bounded stages, and the engine reports capability gaps directly instead of hiding them behind opaque command strings or silent fallbacks.
